Platonic by design
A FRIENDSHIP APP, NOT A DATING APP
BRUH is for adults who want friends nearby — gym partners, food runs, gaming nights, people to actually go do things with. All genders, 18 and over. No swiping, no matches, no romance, and no pretending that a dating app with a friends toggle is the same thing.

- No swiping and no matching anywhere in the app — you see who is nearby and free, and you say something.
- All genders, adults 18+. You choose whether you see men, women or everyone.
- Approximate, randomized neighborhood pins only. Your exact location is never shared with another member.
- Free group video rooms, so you can get a read on someone before meeting in person.
- A local board where people post what they are actually doing this week.
- Free account. BRUH+ is optional and nothing here depends on it.
How it works
Step 1
Say what you're into
A short profile, your area, and the kinds of hangouts you actually want. It takes about two minutes and there is no personality quiz.
Step 2
See who's around and free
The map shows members near you at neighborhood resolution, and who is marked free right now instead of theoretically available someday.
Step 3
Drop into a room or a plan
Join a group video room to see if the vibe is real, or join a local plan that already has a time and place attached.
Step 4
Meet up somewhere public
Short, daylight, public, on your own transport. There's a free safety checklist you can run through first.
Bro, brother, bestie or friend — same app
Whether you call someone a bro, brother, bestie, or friend, BRUH is for adults of every gender looking for real, platonic connection.
Some people want to make new bro friends. Some want a brother-like friendship, the kind where showing up unannounced is fine. Some want a bestie, a gym partner, a gaming crew or one person to get tacos with on a Tuesday. Those are all the same need, and BRUH treats them that way: platonic bro friendship and platonic friendship are one thing here.
So the words are just words. BRUH isn't a gender, it's a vibe — women, men, nonbinary people, LGBTQ+ people, newcomers, locals, introverts and extroverts are all welcome, as long as everyone is 18 or over and here for friendship rather than romance.
Why a separate app instead of a dating app's friends mode
Friendship and dating need opposite mechanics. Dating apps are built to produce exclusive one-on-one pairings, which is why they reward selectivity, hide people behind matches and treat a conversation as a funnel toward a private date. Friendship works the other way: it wants groups, repetition, low stakes and being seen by more people, not fewer.
Bolting a friends toggle onto that machinery keeps the ambiguity, which is exactly the thing that makes people uncomfortable when they message someone nearby. BRUH removes the ambiguity at the product level. There is nothing to swipe on, nothing to match with, and everyone on the app is there for the same declared reason.
It also means we can be blunt about the hard part. Making friends as an adult is not a charisma problem, it is a logistics problem: no shared schedule, no shared building, and nobody willing to name a day. The whole app is aimed at that.
What safety looks like here
Adults only, 18 and over, verified at signup. Location sharing is off by default and reversible at any moment, and Incognito Mode hides you entirely while you still browse.
When location is on, other members see an approximate randomized pin at neighborhood resolution with a rotating offset, and distance as a coarse range. Your precise coordinates, address and exact distance are never sent to any other member, tool or integration.
Reporting and blocking are one tap, blocking is mutual and immediate, and blocked members are removed from your map, chats and friend list at the same time.
Use it before you sign up
If you are not ready to make an account, the free tools do the annoying parts anyway: a conversation starter generator for the blank first message, a group event planner for the nobody-picks-a-place problem, a bio generator that writes for friendship rather than dating, and a printable meetup safety checklist. No signup, no email, no phone number, and nothing you type is saved.
Frequently asked
- Is BRUH only for bros or brothers?
- No. BRUH is an all-gender social app for adults 18+. BRUH isn't a gender — it's a vibe. Women, men, nonbinary people, LGBTQ+ people, newcomers, locals, introverts and extroverts are all welcome, and it is platonic only: no swiping and no dating pressure.
- Is BRUH for guys and girls?
- BRUH is for adults 18+ of every gender, including women, men and nonbinary people. Any casual reference to “guys” or “girls” on BRUH means adult women and men only — nobody under 18 may create an account or use the app.
- Can adult family members use BRUH to keep in touch?
- Yes — family counts as friendship too. Adult family members, including cousins, aunts, uncles, a grandmother, grandpa or grandfather, can share a BRUH Friend Code or profile link to find one another and make real plans. Everyone needs their own 18+ account. BRUH is not a genealogy service, a family locator or a way to track anyone, and it is not for anybody under 18.
- Is BRUH really not a dating app?
- Correct. There is no swiping, no matching and no romantic intent anywhere in the product. It is built for friends, activity partners and community. Members who use it to pursue romance are reported and removed.
- Who can join?
- Adults 18 and over, of any gender. You choose whether you want to see men, women or everyone, and that preference is about who you meet — not about dating.
- Does it cost anything?
- A free account gets the map, profiles, the full Local Board and unlimited messaging. BRUH+ is an optional paid upgrade; nothing on this page requires it.
- Can people see where I live?
- No. Location sharing is off until you turn it on, and even then other members only ever see an approximate, randomized neighborhood-level pin whose offset rotates on a schedule. Your exact coordinates are never sent to another member's device, and distances appear as coarse ranges.
- What if there's nobody near me yet?
- BRUH is Los Angeles-first, so LA is where the density is. Elsewhere you can still join, use the free tools and the group video rooms, and you'll see people as your area fills in. We would rather tell you that than pretend otherwise.
