BRUH × Shipathon 2026

Peace starts when nobody has to face life alone.

BRUH helps adults meet nearby, start real conversations, and build the kind of local support network that makes communities safer, kinder, and less isolated.

The problem

Loneliness is not just personal

When someone is isolated, they lose more than company. They lose the practical layer of everyday life — the person who answers the text, notices the bad week, or shows up when something goes wrong. That gap is not evenly distributed.

People new to a city

Moving somewhere new can mean starting a social life from zero, with no easy way to meet the people already living around you.

Marginalized adults

Plenty of people scan a room before they relax in it. Finding others who already get you shouldn't take months of luck.

Adults with social anxiety

Walking into a group alone is the hardest part. A conversation that starts before the room does makes showing up far less costly.

Anyone who feels disconnected

Long hours, caretaking, a breakup, a move, an ended friendship — life quietly reshuffles who is actually around.

BRUH is a social app for making friends and hanging out. It is not a mental-health or crisis service, and nothing here is a medical claim.

How BRUH works

From a message to a real support network

Three steps, each one a thing the app actually does today.

  1. Step 1 — See who and what is nearby

Browse adults and community activity around you on the map, in lists, and on your city's Local Board.

Your pin is an approximate, randomized area and distances show as coarse ranges — never an exact home location or address. Location sharing starts off, and Hidden mode is always available.

  2. Step 2 — Start a real conversation

Message someone directly, reply to a Local Board post, or gather a crew around a shared interest or a local event.

Chat is text and photos today. There is no swiping, no ranking and no scoring of people — just conversation with adults who are looking for the same thing.

  3. Step 3 — Turn it into a safer real-world plan

Take the conversation into an actual meetup, then keep in touch so a one-time hangout can become a support network.

Community guidelines, report and block on every surface, and safety prompts that encourage public first meetings help people make safer decisions. They are not a guarantee about any person or meetup.

Why this is peace work

How BRUH contributes to peace

Peace is not only the absence of conflict. It is what happens when fewer people are alone, when strangers become safer connections, and when a neighborhood has the means to look after itself.

Belonging

The point is not more contacts. It is finding a few people who understand you and want to spend real time together, in the city you actually live in.

Dialogue

Low-pressure ways to talk across different backgrounds, ages and beliefs — around a hike, a coffee, a game night or a local event, not a debate.

Mutual support

Local networks are how people get a ride, a check-in, or someone in the room on a hard day. BRUH is built to make those networks easier to form.

Safer connection

Privacy-first approximate location, clear community expectations, and tools that help people slow down and think before meeting. BRUH supports safer choices; it never guarantees that another person or meetup is safe.

Who this is for

Built for people dating apps leave behind

BRUH is for adults 18 and over, all genders, and it is strictly platonic — friendship and community. No dating, no swiping, no hookups, and no romantic matching of any kind.

Friendship, not dating

Nobody is rated, ranked or swiped on. You say what you are looking for — coffee, gym partner, hiking, game night — and talk to people who want the same thing.

All genders welcome

Every adult belongs here regardless of gender, orientation, background or how long they have been in the city.

Adults only, on purpose

18+ only. Date of birth is collected solely to enforce that rule and is never shown to other members.

BRUH isn't a gender. It's a vibe.

Shipathon 2026

Why the Peace Prize matters

BRUH is competing for the Shipathon 2026 Peace Prize. We have not won anything, and we are not claiming a result — we are entering because this prize is about the thing we are actually building for.

Finish the testing that trust depends on

We are still verifying the app on physical devices — sign-in, permissions, camera and microphone — before our first public mobile release. Recognition would help us get that work done properly instead of quickly.

Strengthen trust and safety

Better reporting review, clearer community expectations, and more support for members deciding whether to meet someone.

Reach adults who are actually isolated

We are in beta in Los Angeles. Growing responsibly means reaching the people who need a local crew most, not whoever is easiest to advertise to.

Prove software can be built around belonging

Most social products are designed around attention. BRUH is an argument that one can be designed around belonging instead — and still work.

Honest status: BRUH is in beta in Los Angeles and preparing its first public mobile release. Features described on this page are the ones available today; anything still in testing is named as such.

Join the beta

Find your crew—and have each other's back.

Creating an account is free. Profiles, discovery, messaging and the Local Board cost nothing.
